Tom Stacey has written literally thousands of despatches and articles from the start of his journalistic career in 1951 – as a staff correspondent for Lilliput, Picture Post, Montreal Star, Daily Express, Sunday Times, (London) Evening Standard, and as a freelance contributor for the Spectator, The Tablet, The Times and a host of lesser journals.

In recent years, given the demands of his creative output and his publishing commitments, he has limited his journalism to reviewing books for the Spectator and Literary Review, occasional writing on penology and Africa in the national press, and a regular column for the parish magazine, Cloch y Llan, of Christ Church, Bala in North Wales, where his family has a country home.
